As pressure on Western lakes continued to increase, anglers were always on the
lookout for " something new" to try. In fact, the name Fangard came about during
the development of a poly-fiber brush guard (weed guard) that was attached to a
jig head. The poly fibers could be bent into different shapes. One particularly
popular technique involved bending the bristles of the weed guard into the shape
of a fan. The result was a weed-guard that dramatically slowed the fall of the
jig through the water. Hence, Fangard was born.
